Covid-19 Weekly Brief - Week 10 - Licensed Premises and Lockdown Easing

Available to: Everyone

Recorded 8th July 2020

As lockdown measures are relaxed, the Government has introduced the Business and Planning Bill, which is expected to become law in the very near future. The Bill makes significant changes to support business as lockdown gradually eases, including the creation of a new pavement licence authorising the use of the public highway by pubs, cafes, bars and restaurants, as well as provisions for deemed authorisation for off-sales. For local authorities, there is much work to be done and the provisions of the Bill could have significant implications. This weekly webinar will examine the Bill and the steps that local authorities need to be taking. It will also include a discussion on hackney and private hire vehicles, and how local authorities can work together effectively in these unique times. Questions will be warmly welcomed by the speakers Stephen Turner from Kingston upon Hull City Council, Tim Briton from Gateshead Council, Matthew Lewin from Cornerstone Barristers and Andrew Woods from Woods Whur.
