Coronavirus: Local Authority Enforcement and School Admissions Appeals

Available to: Everyone

Recorded 7th May 2020

The Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (England) Regulations 2020 on the face of them now impose significant restrictions on freedom of movement, backed by increased powers of arrest and prosecution. The Regulations make it illegal for a wide range of commercial premises to remain open, a person to leave their house without a reasonable excuse, or a person to take part in public gatherings of more than two people, and this webinar will consider the position of local authorities and government agencies in enforcing this legislation. It will consider the recent government Guidance and the powers of authorities enforcing the requirements relating to businesses. The webinar will also explore the temporary amendments to the school admissions appeals regulations, including the legal and practical issues arising out of the changes, changes to the First Tier Tribunal (Health, Education and Social Care Chamber) and general tips for presenting a case or giving evidence remotely.
