We are looking for a technical expert to assist our Planning Team in Legal Services, with a range of challenging and exciting capital projects. You will deliver high quality legal services in respect of planning matters and make a key contribution to achieving the borough's objectives.

Tower Hamlets has an established Lexcel accredited Legal Team that provides services to the council across the full range of its functions. We strive to provide excellent services and pride ourselves on the exciting variety of work we undertake in-house. We have recently restructured our service to increase resilience, better align with the Council's functions and meet its changing needs, and are now looking for experienced and highly motivated professionals to join the team.
Flexible working is available including working from home for part of the working week after a settling in period.
You will be a Senior Lawyer within a team of lawyers dealing with a challenging and varied Planning and Regeneration caseload that includes complex planning enforcement and judicial reviews. In addition to the above areas, you will be able to demonstrate experience of dealing with planning inquiries, providing advice at planning committees, the negotiation/completion of complex S.106 and highways agreements and the provision of advice on general planning policy, CIL and development Management matters. You will have excellent drafting skills and the ability to provide legal advice to a variety of audiences, including senior officers. You will be able to conduct your caseload with minimum supervision, be able to work collaboratively with colleagues, and will be accustomed to working at pace in a busy team.
You must be a Qualified Solicitor/Barrister or Fellow of CILEX and hold a practising certificate.
