We are looking for a technical expert to lead our Planning Team in Legal Services on a range of challenging and exciting capital projects and development schemes. You will deliver high quality legal services in respect of planning matters and make a key contribution to achieving the borough's objectives.

Tower Hamlets has an established Lexcel accredited Legal Team that provides services to the Council across the full range of its functions. We strive to provide excellent services and pride ourselves on the exciting variety of high quality work that we undertake in-house. We have recently restructured our service to increase resilience, better align with the Council's functions, and are now looking for highly competent, enthusiastic and motivated professionals to join the team.
Flexible working is available including working from home for part of the working week following a settling in period.
You will be the lead Planning Lawyer and will deal with some high profile and transformational projects, reporting to the Head of Contracts and Commercial. You will manage a busy team of Lawyers and be the expert responsible for the provision of high quality solution focussed services to internal and external clients.
You will also be able to work collaboratively and demonstrate significant, recent, local government experience in the area of planning law.
This post is politically restricted in accordance with Section 2 of the Local Government & Housing Act 1989.
You must be a Qualified Solicitor/Barrister or Fellow of CILEX with significant relevant PQE and hold a practising certificate.
