Following a competitive application process (which had the highest number of applicants in company history), LLG were delighted to appoint Kieran McGaughey and Aneeka Sarwar to the Board of LLG.

On being appointed Kieran McGaughey from Newcastle Council stated:

"It's a great privilege to have been appointed to LLG's national board. Thanks to Tim Briton our North East Branch Chair and former Board Member for his encouragement, and Helen McGrath for her assistance in discussing the role. There were a lot of strong applicants and I'm sure they will have their time in the future. These new roles, and the interest in them, underline how vibrant our organisation is at present. Despite these uncertain times, we need to press on with our positive initiatives to improve the future of local government legal practice. As a director I will work hard to represent and serve all of our members across the country."

On being appointed Aneeka Sarwar said:

"As director for membership I aim to ensure that members' voice is central to LLG decision making especially during these unprecedented times. The need for a collaborative, forward thinking mindset of local government legal service is paramount to ensuring that in-house lawyers rise to the opportunities for long-term change and excellence in governance".

LLG welcomes them both.
