Monitoring Officer - Copeland Borough Council
£38,237 - £41,967 (pro rata)
(Part-time – 18½ hours per week)
Copeland is located on the west coast of Cumbria and is a unique and memorable borough, with an extensive western coastline around the main town of Whitehaven with some of the world's most fantastic scenery among the mountains and lakes of Lake District National Park area including Scafell and Wastwater.

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Monitoring Officer. The role is ideal for anyone who has recently been a Monitoring Officer or is looking to take that next step in Local Government. The successful candidate will report into the Corporate Leadership Team and will be responsible for a variety of strategic, operational and advisory duties including:
- Attending meetings, as required, of the Corporate Leadership Team and, as such, contributing towards the development and implementation of legally sound policies and plans which ensure the Council continually improves upon its performance and sets and achieves realistic corporate goals and achievements within its legal powers
- Undertaking the role of the Council's Monitoring Officer under the provisions of section 5 of the Local Government and Housing Act 1989, including handling complaints about Councillors and the preparation of reports to any relevant Committee
- Representing the Council on such outside bodies as required and promoting good external relations, effective partnership working and a positive image of the Council
